Assumpcio Mateu is in 1952 geboren in Gerona (Spanje),In 1959 verhuisde ze met haar familie naar Barcelona. In 1970 ging ze naar de kunstacademie Sant Jordi in Barcelona en tegelijkertijd vogde ze een opleiding voor grafisch ontwerpen aan de Elisava school.Ze deed haar eindexamen in 1975.Vanaf 1979 was ze docent aan dezelfde kunstacademie waar zij haar opleiding kreeg. In 1988 promoveerde ze aan de Centrale Universiteit van Barcelona met haar proefschrift "Perception, color and thought". In dat jaar besloot ze voor schilderen te kiezen. Daarna heeft zij tussen 2005 en 2011 diverse boeken uitgegeven.

Haar werk bevindt zich in diverse binnen en buitenlandse museumcollecties en particuliere collecties.Zij werkt nog steeds in haar ateliers in Barcelona en Jafre. Exposities vanaf 1972 tot heden in diverse binnelandse en buitenlandse galeries en beurzen.

Assumpcio Mateu was born in Gerona in 1952 and at the age of 7 year she moved with her family to Barcelona.In 1970 she started her studies at the Sant Jordi School of Arts in Barcelona and at the same time a study graphip design at the Elisava School. She graduated in 1975.

From 1979 she devoted herself to teach painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts Sant Jordi in the Central University of Barcelona. In 1988 she was awarded her Doctorate at the Central University of Barcelona with her thesis "Perception, colout and thought.

From 205 to 2011 she publish several books about art. Her work was bought by several museums, foundations an private collections in Spain and other countries.
